Most people don’t understand the extent to which serving affects the mental health of soldiers. According to the National Council for Behavioral Health, less than 50% of the returning veterans in need receive any mental health treatment. Also, the Veterans Administration reports that approximately 22 veterans die by suicide every day.
These are alarming statistics. It saddens us to see how people who give so much for their country receive so little return. That is why our agency has decided to support Heart of Horse Sense and make them our Agents of Change Community Cause! This non-profit educates, trains, and funds Trauma-Informed Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning.
These programs help children and adults who have undergone traumas at any point in their life. Their efforts have especially demonstrated to help veterans deal with the mental disorders that result from their time on duty. Our agency has seen the wonderful ways that horses support growth and healing first-hand.
Heart of Horse sense has made a huge impact in our community, and we want to help bring awareness to it.
